Rules of MOW membership

These are the rules of MOW membership. By registering to use the site you agree to abide by these rules. Those members found breaking the rules will have their accounts deactivated and will be banned from using the site.

It is important that you read through and understand the following information.

This document applies as of the 31 March 2010. We may change, modify or delete parts of this page and therefore you should revisit this document regularly and ensure you understand and agree to any changes. If you continue to use the website after a change, you agree to be bound by that change.

1.      Who can register to use the website?

You must be under 16 to register on this website and to use the facilities and services provided on this website. 

If you are older than 16 then you may not register to use this website but you may browse those parts of the website that do not require you to be registered.

Whether you use this website as a registered user or as a casual visitor you will be subject to these terms and conditions.

You should provide true, accurate and complete personal details to us when you register with us and you should ensure that those personal details are updated and changed whenever they need updating or changing.

As part of the registration process you will be asked to select a username and a password and you will be responsible for all activities occurring under that username and password.

You must not tell anybody your password.

We may refuse to register your requested username if we consider that it is inappropriate e.g. it impersonates somebody else or is offensive.

2.      What I am not allowed to do on the website?

You are solely responsible for your conduct in the chatrooms, blogs, comments  or the thought tree, and any data you upload such as photos, music or video clips. You may not use the site for any illegal or unauthorised use. 

You may not put anything on the site that you did not create or that you do not have permission from the author to use on this website.  For example, you may place a photograph on the website where you took the photograph yourself but you may not put somebody else's photograph onto this website unless they have given you permission to do so or you may put lyrics to a song that you wrote on the website, but you mustn't copy the lyrics of someone else's song without their permission.

We may review the content you put on the site and delete or remove any part of it.

You must agree not to use the site:-

  • a) To post any content that we deem to be harmful, threatening, unlawful, abusive, harassing, vulgar, obscene, fraudulent, hateful or otherwise objectionable.
  • b) To impersonate or falsely state or otherwise misrepresent yourself, your age or your connection with any person.
  • c) To make publically available on the website any private information of yours or another person, including your/their address, private e-mail/msn address or telephone number.
  • d) To ask for any personal information from any other users of the website including their name, address, password etc.
  • e) To intimidate, harass or bully another user of the website.

3.      Who owns the material on the website?

You own the material you put on the website but by putting the material on this website you consent to MOW using that material, publishing that material and modifying that material.  Without these rights we would not be able to convert your material into a form required to display it on our website nor could we make it accessible by you and other users.

We own and retain all rights to this website and to the name and trading styles of MOW and Muscular Dystrophy Campaign.  You may not copy, modify, reproduce, display or distribute anything from the website including the name.

4.      How much do you monitor the website?

We monitor our website to ensure the content of it is appropriate to you.  We expect all users of our website to comply with the rules set out in this document, however it is possible to access other websites via our website, which we do not monitor.  Therefore before using any other websites you should check their terms and conditions and privacy policy.  We take no responsibility for third party websites.

Although we monitor our website, it is impossible to check everything that is uploaded onto the website. 5.      Is your website available all of the time and is it secure?

We take care to maintain our system to ensure that it is working and is free of viruses but cannot guarantee that the website will be available to you all of the time.  Nor can we guarantee that the website will be free from viruses.  Please maintain up to date virus checkers on your computer.

6.      How long can I remain a member of the website?

We will remove you from our website when you are older than the age of 16 years or if we believe that you have not complied with the terms of this document or for any other reason we think fit.  If we remove you from our website we will delete all personal information that we hold about you.
